Ramlall Ramdihal, also known as ‘Jack’, the 38-year-old field supervisor from Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice, has been granted bail after being detained with 92 pounds of cannabis in his car.

The decision came from Principal Magistrate Mr. Allan Wilson, who granted bail in the sum of $250,000. However, this bail comes with conditions, including a requirement for Ramdihal to report to the Mahaicony Police Station every Monday at 10:30 am.

The granting of bail follows Ramdihal’s assertion of innocence during his interrogation. According to Bernard Da Silva, who provided an update to Guyana Uncut News, Ramdihal claimed that he was parked on the southern side of the Now-or-Never Public Road at Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, waiting for two passengers who had exited the car to urinate. However, the police arrived during this waiting period and did not wait for the return of the passengers.

Ramdihal further maintained that the bags containing the cannabis belonged to the passengers, and he had no knowledge of their contents. Allegedly, he was only instructed to transport the bags to Bourda Market in Georgetown.

These new revelations raise questions about Ramdihal’s involvement in the incident. His claim of innocence, coupled with the circumstances surrounding the police interception, has led to the granting of bail by the magistrate.

The case has garnered significant attention due to the substantial quantity of cannabis involved and the potential legal implications for Ramdihal.
