In a recent operation led by the Police Anti-Terrorism Patrol, Sheldon Browne, known as “Hammer”, a 48-year-old businessman residing at Lot 64 Cross Street, Werk en Rust, was apprehended on suspicion of drug trafficking. The operation took place on April 26, 2024, at approximately 22:20hrs.

Acting on received intelligence, law enforcement officers proceeded to Cross Street, Werk-en-Rust, between Leopold and Hadfield Street, Georgetown, where they confronted Browne. The lead officer informed Browne of the received information regarding narcotics possession and requested to conduct a search, which Browne consented to.

During the search, A constable discovered two brown cardboard boxes underneath a table near Browne. Upon inspection, the boxes were found to contain several transparent plastic bags filled with seed leaves and stems, suspected to be cannabis. Additionally, another box was found to contain small rectangle-shaped cardboard boxes wrapped in green plastic, which contained a creamy whitish rock-like substance, suspected to be cocaine. Browne was informed of the offense but remained silent.

The officers seized the suspected drugs, totaling 2943 grams of cannabis and 2301 grams of cocaine, in Browne’s presence. Browne was then arrested and escorted to Brickdam Police Station. The seized substances were weighed, placed in transparent evidence bags, sealed, and lodged with the station sergeant for analysis. Browne is currently in custody pending further legal proceedings.

This arrest marks another legal entanglement for Browne, who previously faced charges of drug trafficking in 2015, when police searched his home and found a bag with cannabis under the main stairway. He told police, “It was lil old weed I fuhget out deh.”
