Well-known convict and repeat offender 23-year-old Anthony Prince also called “Clive Forde,” a prisoner died on Saturday, March 30, 2024 after he was stabbed with a broken mopstick by another prisoner at the Lusignan Prison.

The Guyana Prison Service (GPS), in a statement, identified the suspect as Shemar Davis, 23, of ‘B’ Field Sophia.

According to the GPS at about 14:05 hours this afternoon there was an incident at the Lusignan Prison, where Prince was stabbed by Davis with a piece of mop stick to his neck, while they were making jokes about each other’s girlfriend.

Prince, after being stabbed, was seen by the nurse on duty and was subsequently referred to Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for further medical treatment.

However, at about 14:45 hours, the prisoner succumbed to his injury at the hospital while he was receiving medical attention.

The GPS said that Davis was placed in a separate cell. The Officer-in-Charge, along with the Welfare Officer, are currently engaging the other prisoners about the effects of making the wrong decision.

Meanwhile, Director of Prisons, Nicklon Elliot, expressed condolences to the family of Prince and will provide support during this time.

Prince was remanded to prison after he was charged with three counts of armed robbery and two counts of Break and Enter and Larceny.

Davis was remanded after he was charged with robbery.

The Guyana Police Force were informed, and they are currently investigating the matter.
