Juveniles to be charged with murdering 17-Y-O at Patentia

Three juveniles are expected to be charged today with the murder of Aron Bess, a 17-year-old of Lot 234 Patentia, West Bank Demerara (WBD).

Bess, who had lost both of his parents at a young age, was savagely stabbed to death by two 17-year-old males and a 16-year-old on March 20, 2024, at about 21:30h at Patentia, WBD.

A reliable source informed this publication that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) recommended that the teens be charged with murder after the 16-year-old who was on the run was arrested in connection with the murder.

It was previously reported that Bess was walking from Two Field, heading to a nearby shop to make a purchase, when the suspects began pelting him with bottles and bricks due to an old misunderstanding.

As Bess continued his journey, the suspects, police said approached him, and one of the teens dealt him two lashes with a piece of steel while another teen took out a knife from his waist and dealt him several stabs about his body.

As a result of the injuries, Bess fell to the ground, and the suspects made good their escape on foot. The 17-year-old was then picked up by public-spirited citizens and escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH), where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.

His body was checked by the Police, and a wound to his left upper chest, a wound to his left lower stomach area, and a wound to his right side neck (jugular vein) was seen. Two 17-year-old males were later arrested by police. The 16-year-old was recently arrested.
