Anthony Ramsahoye, 71, was charged yesterday with the offence of Causing Death by Dangerous Driving committed on Garfield Bridgemohan, a 37-year-old pedal cyclist of Queenstown, Essequibo Coast.

The tragic incident occurred on 19th January 2024 on the public road at Queenstown, Essequibo Coast.

The charge was laid under Section 35(1) of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, Chapter 51:02. On Tuesday (2nd April 2024), the case was heard at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Tamieka Clarke, where the charge was read to the accused.

The defendant pleaded not guilty, and bail was subsequently granted by the Court in the sum of $100,000, with conditions that he lodge his Passport with the Court and report to the Station Sergeant at the Anna Regina Police Station every last Friday of the month.

The case was adjourned to 23rd April 2024.
