A horrifying incident unfolded last night at the intersection of High and Princess Streets in Georgetown, as a container truck tragically claimed the life of Martha Williams, a security guard, in a devastating accident.
According to eyewitness reports, the incident occurred as Williams attempted to cross the road and, collided with the oncoming container truck, which trailer bore the registration number TEE 6209. Witnesses described the truck’s speed as alarmingly fast, leaving little time for the victim to make it across the road.
The aftermath of the accident painted a scene of unimaginable horror, with Williams’s body horrifically mangled, seemingly cut in half, with the lower portion strewn in pieces across the roadway.
This marks the fifth fatality caused by trucks in Georgetown within a span of just four months, underscoring a concerning pattern with regard to road safety. Just last week, another security guard fell victim to a similar fate when a truck collided with her on Water Street, resulting in her tragic demise.
The driver of the container truck involved in last night’s incident reportedly fled the scene following the collision, compounding the anguish for the victim’s family, who described her as an easy-going person.
The police are investigating and are expected to release a formal statement soon.
