The Police is investigating the mysterious death of 45-year-old Monella Hamer, whose body was discovered in a drainage trench on Dennis Street in Sophia, Georgetown today, at approximately 1:00 p.m.
The police promptly responded to the report of a motionless body and found Hamer, a steel bender residing on Pettersen Access Road in Turkeyen, floating face down in the trench. He was dressed in a black jersey and grey shorts, and was identified by his older brother, Marlon Hamer, a construction worker from Beterverwagting.
According to another brother, Michael Hamer, the deceased suffered from epilepsy and was last seen yesterday around 5:00 p.m., standing at the door of his wooden shack, just a few feet from where his body was found.
The Criminal Investigations Department processed the scene and found no obvious signs of foul play or violence. Medical personnel pronounced Hamer dead at the scene, and his body was transported to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
