Brothers assaulted by “Lolie”

A woman is claiming that her husband, Hamnarine Heeralall, 35, of Leonora, West Coast Demerara (WCD), and his brother, Sureshpaul Heeralall, 45, were beaten by a man in Leonora, WCD.The incidents occurred between March 25 and 31, 2024.

The suspect has been identified as Navin Bissondial, well known as “Lolie,” in Leonora, WCD.

Hamnarine’s wife, Malisa Singh, told the news during an interview that Bissondial is an alleged drug addict and was high on both occasions when he attacked and beat the men.

Singh said: “On Phagwah Day, he was drinking at the head of the track way. He was smoking up, and so. So I was outside raking up my yard, and my husband was inside the yard. He was playing music. Anyway I was quarreling on my husband to turn down the music and he (Lolie) that was drinking through the track at the head he heard when I was quarreling on my husband and he start cuss up and seh oh buss up he fxxxing head and that is how he start go on and me husband peep over the fence and tell he mind he own business and when me husband say that he (Lolie) get up and he pick up a wood and he come infront of our house to lash me husband.”

The woman said after Bissondial allegedly went infront their home with the wood to hit her husband, her brother-in-law and father-in-law went to the man and reportedly began pushing him and asked him to move from infront of their home.As a result of this, the suspect allegedly took the said wood and beat her husband repeatedly about his head and body.

The suspect then made good his escape.

The victim was then taken to the hospital, and he was treated for severe head injuries. A report was then filed.However, on March 31, Bissondial then attacked and beat Sureshpaul. Police were again alerted.

The suspect was later arrested, charged, and hauled before the court. Singh also disclosed that Bissondial is well-known for allegedly beating and injuring persons on a regular basis in Leonora.
